Privacy and safety
For the getladdu.com website and waitlist, and our commitments for children using the app. Last updated 8 October 2026.
Who we are
Laddu is a speaking-practice app for children, now being built. This page covers the getladdu.com website and its waitlist, and sets out our commitments for children using the app.
What we collect
When a parent joins the waitlist we collect their email address and, if they choose to share them, their child's age range, where they live (city and country), the languages their family wants, and a short note about what they have tried.
We do not collect any information from children on this website.
Why we collect it
To email you about early access to Laddu, and to decide which ages, places and languages to build for first. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Where it's stored
Waitlist entries are stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore), which may keep data on servers outside your country. Only the Laddu team can read them.
How long we keep it
Until you ask us to delete it, or until we close the waitlist, whichever comes first.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time by emailing hello@getladdu.com. Every email we send will include a way to stop receiving them.
Children and safety
Laddu is made for children aged 5 to 10, so these commitments will apply to the app from the day it launches.
A parent will create and control the account, and give consent before their child uses Laddu. Parents will be able to see and delete their child's information at any time.
We will follow the children's privacy laws where our families live, including the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the US and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Both ask for a parent's verifiable consent before a child's information is collected or used.
Laddu will always say it is an AI. It will never pretend to be a grandparent, a teacher or any real person.
Every reply Laddu gives will be checked by safety filters made for young children, and conversations will stay on practice topics such as family, food, school, games and festivals.
There will be no ads, and we will keep only what practice needs, with voice recordings kept to a minimum.
If anything Laddu says ever worries you, email hello@getladdu.com and we will look into it straight away.
We will publish a full privacy policy for the app, covering children's information, before anyone can use it.
Changes
If we change this page we will update the date at the top, and tell waitlist members about important changes by email.
